Scanart
"The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Inc. (SCAN), a non-profit art association of Western Connecticut area artists, meets in the historic Newtown Meeting House on Main Street at the Flag Pole (Route 25).

Our goal is to support the artist and promote the visual arts. For over 30 years, SCAN members - artists of all skill levels and art enthusiasts - have been sharing knowledge of a variety of media, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, mixed media, and sculpture.

We provide twice-monthly demonstration meetings featuring professional artists, workshops with practicing artists, informal "drop in" sketch sessions with models and many other educational opportunities. In addition, we sponsor three art shows each year. Each month we publish SCAN INK, a newsletter for our members, which provides complete details about our programs."

Pastels

Diane Townsend Artists' Pastels
Diane Townsend Artists' Pastels are made from the purist pigments available. They are beautifully shaped and molded by hand with absolute quality control observed for each pastel. Our goal is to express the character and texture of each pigment. The pastels are not mixed with any type of chalk, filler or cheaper pigment which can compromise the richness, brightness and density of a color. Every color, every pastel is unique; it reveals the particular hue and luminosity of pigment.
