Marilyn’s art has always been a major part of her life. She received many awards for paintings and graphic design during her school and college years.

She paints still life and landscape in oil and pastel. Her gardens have always been a major inspiration for her paintings and her CT sunflowers invite visitors to view them. She is an avid gardener and paints the flowers in her gardens; when they fade, they are still beautiful to paint. She enjoys plein aire painting and will be back in Provence this year to paint with the Connecticut Pastel Society.

Marilyn is co-president of the CT Pastel Society, a Signature member and was vice-president and chair of the members show for seven years; she is past-president/program chair of CT Classic Arts; an associate member of the Audubon Artists, Allied Artists of America, Academic Artists Association; the Society of Creative Arts; Lyme Art Association; Greenwich Art Association; Old Greenwich Art Association.

Her undergraduate and graduate studies began at Syracuse University’s College of Fine Arts, completed at the University of Vermont, Painting and sculpture studies at Skidmore College and Bennington College, a Masters Degree in Art started at Syracuse University and completed at the University of Alabama; she began a doctorate there.

She taught public school and college level art and English full time for over 35 years. She was an art curriculum supervisor for twenty schools and taught graduate art studies at colleges and the University of South Carolina.

She was a charter member of Gallery Ten in Myrtle Beach and her paintings, prints and collages have been in galleries in many states. Her paintings and studio were on the Fairfield University studio tour. Her awards have included The Pastel Journal and recognition in exhibits in the United States.

Her paintings are in many private and corporate collections.
