Having spent my childhood in the Hudson River Valley and on the south shore of Long Island, and as a Ridgefield, CT resident for the past 27 years, I focus on painting landscapes and vignettes of local scenes from those areas. My still life paintings tend to be studies of ‘found objects’– stones, seashells, and local flora and fauna—in their natural settings. I have had the privilege of studying plein aire painting with several pastel artists including Doug Dawson, Christine Debrosky, Stanley Maltzman and Bob Rohm. I was honored to have my paintings included in numerous shows and exhibitions in 2007, including: The Connecticut Pastel Society 14th Annual National Juried Exhibition ‘Renaissance In Pastel;’ Maryland Pastel Society’s ‘Shades of Pastel’ National Juried Show (Pastel Society of America Award of Merit); Pastel Society of America 35th Annual Exhibition for ‘Pastels Only;’ Art Society of Old Greenwich’s Annual Sidewalk Show (Dianne B. Bernhard Art Spirit Foundation Award–First Prize for Pastel); Kent Art Association 2007 Juried President’s Show (James H. Aiken Award – Pastel); Art Society of Old Greenwich Members Jury Show ‘Exploring Luminosity’ (Second Prize for Pastel); Pastel Society of New Hampshire’s New England Juried Show ‘It’s Pastel;’ SCAN 37th Annual Spring Juried Art Show (Bee Publishing Company Award); Connecticut Pastel Society 21st Members Exhibition (Diane Townsend Award); Solo exhibition ‘Earth ® Air ® Water ® Fire: The Seasons in Pastel’ at the Rockwell Art Gallery, Wilton, CT. |
