* July Morning

Gigi has painted in oils and pastels for over twenty-five years in a continuing exploration of the dramatic effects of both natural and artificial light. Her early work investigated color drenched still life subjects, later evolving into images that explore the phenomena of nocturnal illumination. Recent work has expanded onto a series of images that celebrate the chroma of morning and afternoon light.
The subjects that Gigi paints are chosen for their design elements and their relationship to the environment. Her color choices convey her emotional response to the subject. In addition to pastel paintings, she has developed her imagery in large scale oil paintings. Gigi’s work is recognized for its emphasis on luminous color, spontaneous surface texture and successful design.

Ms. Liverant has produced numerous solo shows and participated nationally in exhibitions including the Pastel Society of America, the Connecticut Pastel Society, Annual Art of the Northeast USA, the Kansas Pastel Society, Associated American Artists and both CowParade New York City 2000 and West Hartford 2003. She has frequently received merit awards for her work including the Dianne Bernhardt Gold Medal Award at the PSA Annual Exhibition in 2000, Best in Show at the Connecticut Pastel Society Exhibition, First Prize at the Connecticut Women Artists, and Second Prize at the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. She is a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist and a Signature Member of the Connecticut Pastel Society. Her paintings are included in the collection of the Lyman Allyn Museum, Connecticut College, Pfizer, Three Rivers Community-Technical College and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, in addition to private and corporate collections nationally. Gigi maintains a studio in Colchester Connecticut.
