... to entice the viewer into my art, beyond what is seen, to what is felt."
Anne Heywood is an expressive realist artist who creates a mood, as well as likeness, in her works. Her paintings and drawings are combinations of both beauty and expression, a reflection of her life spent in New England and Italy. Heywood applies "dry" medium-- soft pastels or oil pastels -- with her hands on textured surfaces to achieve the strong compositions and subtle color transitions for which she is known. Her drawings, mainly composed in charcoal or pen & ink, are visually exact and emotionally stimulating.
